Obverse: Portrait of Juan Ramón Jiménez (1881-1958), painted by Daniel Vázquez Díaz. The Coat of arms of Spain at upper right. The beautiful rose flowers as a registration device, it's a symbolize "Rose of the Sea" a poem by Juan Ramón Jiménez. Date of issue at bottom center: Madrid, 22 July 1980. The face value "2000" at bottom right and in ornate guilloche rosette at bottom left. The inscription: "Banco de España" (Bank of Spain) at upper center and "Dos Mil Pesetas" (Two thousand Pesetas) at bottom center.
  Signatures: Don José Ramón Álvarez Rendueles (Governor - El Gobernador, Mar. 1978 - Jul. 1984); (The Auditor - El Interventor); (Cashier - El Cajero).

Reverse: Facade of Town Hall building in Moguer (Birthplace of Juan Ramón Jiménez). The municipal hall (Spanish: ayuntamiento), known as the Casa Consistorial, is located in the Plaza del Cabildo, in the historic center of Moguer. The handwritten inscription: " ¡Allá va el olor de la rosa! ¡Cójela en tu sinrazón! " at upper right. The inscription: "Banco de España" (Bank of Spain) at upper center and "Dos Mil Pesetas" (Two thousand Pesetas) at bottom center. The face value "2000" at bottom left and in ornate guilloche rosette at bottom right.

The peseta was replaced by the euro (€) in 1999 on currency exchange boards. Euro coins and notes were introduced in January 2002, and on 1 March 2002 the peseta lost its legal tender status in Spain, and also in Andorra. The conversion rate was 1 euro = 166.386 Spanish pesetas.
  Peseta notes issued since 1939 and coins that were legal tender on 31 December 2001 remain exchangeable at any branch of the Spanish Central Bank until 31 December 2020. According to that entity, as of March 2011 pesetas to a value estimated at 1.7 billion euros had not been converted to euro.
