Obverse: Portrait of Kaptein Hendrik Witbooi - Namaqua chief (c. 1830 – 29 October 1905) was a chief of the ǀKhowesin people, a sub-tribe of the Khoikhoi. He lived in present-day Namibia. Witbooi is regarded as one of the national heroes of Namibia. King Hendrik Witbooi (also spelt Witboi) was also known by the Nama name ǃNanseb gaib ǀGâbemab (the captain who disappears in the grass, a reference to his guerrilla war tactics).
  The Namibian Parliament building in Windhoek at center, symbolizing Namibia’s sovereignty. Logo of the Bank of Namibia at upper center of the banknote. At the top are the name of the bank in English: BANK OF NAMIBIA. The face value of the banknote N$50 at upper left and bottom right corners, in words: "FIFTY NAMIBIA DOLLARS" along the left side of the banknote.
  Governor’s Signature: Signed by the Governor of Bank of Namibia, Mr. Ipumbu Shiimi. The Governor’s signature is printed in intaglio.

Reverse: A closeup of a head of a Greater Kudu antelope (Tragelaphus strepsiceros) at right and a vignette showing five Greater Kudu antelopes at a waterhole at center. The Coat of Arms of Namibia to the left of the center along the upper side of the banknote. At the bottom center are the name of the bank in English: BANK OF NAMIBIA. The face value of the banknote N$50 at upper left and bottom right corners.

Janus Security Thread: A colour shifting security thread which depicts the Bank’s initial “BON” and the banknote value 50.
Diaphan- See through design : The blurred texts on the right top corner of the banknote, when held up against the light, the blurred text form “BON” text and the surrounding iridescent frame becomes opaque.
Spark Dynamic appears in a form of the Bank of Namibia’s logo: The Bank logo shows a moving effect of light with colour changing from gold to green on the N$50 banknote. The banknote value appears on the right depending on the angle of view.
