Obverse: Icon - Madonna Episkepsis from the church of St.Vrachi-Mali, Ohrid, early XIV century The Icon of the Madonna Episkepsis is depicted in its true dimensions, with an image of the Christ Child in the right. The presence of tow angeles in the upper corners of the icon symbolize the depiction of the Sorrowful Virgin.
Reverse: A detail from the church of "St. Sofia" in Ohrid, built in X-XI centuries. This church was the seat of the Ohrid archbishopric, and contains many invaluable frescoes from XI ond XIV centuries.
Watermark: Registered three-dimensional watermark bearing image of the “Madonna – Episkepsis”, an icon of the Virgin Mary.
Windowed-Thread: 2 mm wide windowed thread, visible microtext bearing text abbreviation “НБРМ”.
Intaglio Print: Multi-coloured intaglio printed text and engraving.
OVD: Optically variable element-hologram application, in the middle of the application larger figure 1000 around the map of R. Macedonia will be placed, while several smaller figures 1000 will be placed around them.
OVI: Optically variable ink.
Latent Image: In the folds of the Virgin Mary’s dress the text “НБРМ” is printed and visible at a special angle.
Micro-Text: In the thin line above “НАРОДНА БАНКА НА РЕПУБЛИКА МАКЕДОНИЈА”.
See-Through Feature: Image of a star divided into two parts, one on each side of the note, and which match when observed against the light.
Asymmetric numeration: All numbers and letters are different size.
Iridescent ink: Colored stripe with a metal layer, at which the flag of the R. Macedonia and figure 1000 are visible when tilted.
